Maintaining or upgrading your Bike-Hook van bike mount is easy — and one of the simplest DIY steps you can take is swapping or reorienting the front fork hub block assembly.

Whether you're switching bikes, adjusting angles for better fitment, or just tightening up the setup, this quick guide walks you through the entire process.

🚲 Why Would You Swap the Hub Block Assembly?

Here are a few common reasons Bike-Hook users need to make this adjustment:

  1. Repositioning: You want to rotate the hub block to a different angle — either straight or offset — to better fit your van or handlebars.

  2. Upgrading Bikes: You’ve upgraded to a new bike with a different fork style, requiring a new hub block (e.g., thru-axle vs. quick release).

  3. Maintenance: Your current mount has come loose and just needs tightening.

🛠 What You’ll Need

  • Flathead screwdriver

  • Two 7/16" wrenches

  • Optional: Rubber mallet or small hammer

  • A bit of tape (helpful tip below)

🔩 Step-by-Step: How to Swap or Adjust the Fork Mount

1. Remove the Plastic Mocap

Use a flathead screwdriver to pop off the black plastic mocap at the end of the Bike-Hook.
These are pressed in and come off easily with a little leverage.

2. Access the Mounting Hardware

Once the cap is off, you’ll see two 7/16" nuts inside.
Use one wrench on the inside and one on the outside to loosen and remove the bolts and nuts holding the fork block in place.

3. Adjust or Replace the Hub Block

Now that it’s free, either:

  • Rotate the existing hub block to your preferred orientation, or

  • Replace it entirely with a new fork mount for your upgraded bicycle.

This step allows you to fine-tune your setup for handlebar clearance, pedal spacing, and van door layout.

4. Reinstall the Hardware

Replace the 1/4-20 bolts, washers, and nuts, and use your wrenches to tighten them securely.

💡 Helpful Tip:
The inner washer and nut can be hard to hold in place inside the tight mount.
Wrap some tape around one end of your 7/16 wrench and stick the nut to the tape — this trick makes positioning and tightening way easier!

5. Reattach the Plastic Mocap

Press the plastic cap back into place.
You can do this by:

  • Tapping it gently with a rubber mallet

  • Lightly tapping with a hammer and towel

  • Pressing down with firm, even pressure on a table or flat surface

✅ That’s It — You’re Done!

Now your Bike-Hook fork mount is ready for more adventures. Whether you're hauling your bike on a Mercedes Sprinter, Fiat Ducato, or VW Transporter, this quick maintenance keeps your setup tight, aligned, and safe for travel.
